This Is the Day

“This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

PSALM 118:24 · ESV
PTDia 196 em Português ESDía 196 en Español ENDay 196 in English
1.

A DAY HE MADE

The psalmist doesn't say the day happened to turn out well — he says the Lord made it, which changes everything about how you receive it.

2.

THIS ONE, NOT YESTERDAY'S

'This' is a small word carrying great weight — not some imagined perfect day, but today, flaws and all.

3.

A DECISION, NOT A FEELING

'Let us rejoice' is a verb of will — the psalmist is calling you to choose joy before it arrives naturally.

4.

A SHARED INVITATION

The plural 'let us rejoice' reminds you this joy isn't solitary — it's meant to be lived alongside others who received the day too.

5.

ONLY TODAY IS YOURS

Yesterday is gone and tomorrow hasn't arrived — this verse anchors you in the only moment you can actually live and give thanks in.

6.

ACT WITH JOY TODAY

Act: Before you get out of bed tomorrow, say aloud 'this is the day the Lord has made' and name one concrete thing in it to be glad for.
