I Will Sing in the Morning

“But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress.”

1.

FROM DISTRESS TO SONG

This psalm opens with David surrounded by men who wanted to kill him, and closes in praise. A night of danger gives way to a morning song.

2.

A FORTRESS IN HARD TIMES

God is not called a refuge only in theory — David testifies that He has already been, in practice, his fortress on the day of real distress.

3.

STEADFAST LOVE THAT STAYS

The word rendered steadfast love describes a loyal love that never gives up. It is this constant love, not the absence of danger, that David celebrates.

4.

SINGING BEFORE FULL VICTORY

The enemies were still circling when David chose to sing. Praise does not wait for the trouble to end; it begins while God's fortress already holds.

5.

A DAILY RHYTHM

'In the morning' suggests a habit, not a single moment. Beginning the day declaring God's faithfulness shapes how we face everything that follows.

6.

SING BEFORE THE ANSWER

Act: tomorrow, upon waking, sing or say aloud one line of gratitude for God's faithfulness before checking any news or solving any problem.
