He Is Not Here

“He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee,”

1.

AT DAYBREAK, AT THE EMPTY TOMB

The women arrived very early, carrying spices for a dead body. They didn't expect this sentence — they were met with an absence that would change everything.

2.

AN ABSENCE THAT IS GOOD NEWS

'He is not here' would normally be bad news — but here it's the best possible news, because the reason for the absence is resurrection, not loss.

3.

HAS RISEN — A COMPLETED ACTION

The verb doesn't describe something in progress — it already happened. This isn't future hope being announced; it's an already-completed fact the women are being invited to recognize.

4.

REMEMBER WHAT HE ALREADY SAID

The angel isn't announcing something entirely new — he tells the women to remember. Jesus had already said this in Galilee; faith here is recognizing that his word came true exactly as promised.

5.

THE VERSE THAT CHANGES ALL THE OTHERS

This is the climax of Luke's Gospel — without it, everything Jesus taught and suffered would go unanswered. With it, every earlier promise gains solid ground.

6.

ACT BY REMEMBERING TODAY

Act: Write down one specific promise of Jesus he's already fulfilled in your life, and thank him in prayer today, saying that fulfillment out loud, as the women were called to remember.
