“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.”
The word is deliberate: think, watch, pay attention to one another. A faith that works looks beyond itself and asks how to help a brother grow.
The verb is strong: to provoke, to awaken, to ignite. We are called to stir up in others the good that sometimes lies sleeping in them.
We do not stir up rivalry or guilt, but love. The right word at the right time can rekindle in someone the desire to love again.
Faith grows best in company. We go farther when someone beside us reminds us to serve, to forgive, and to keep doing good.
God never meant for us to walk alone. The warmth of a community that spurs one another on keeps alive the faith that weariness would try to put out.
Act: seek out one person who is weary in faith today and tell them, specifically, the good you see in them — spur them on to the next step.
