““But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you; how much less this house that I have built!”
At the height of his greatest achievement, Solomon asks a question that reveals humility: will God really dwell here?
Not even the highest heaven can contain God's greatness — how much less, then, a temple built by human hands.
Solomon spent seven years building the temple and still admits: the building doesn't confine God, it only hosts Him as an honored guest.
The same God too vast for the heavens chooses to meet with His people in one specific place. Vastness and nearness are not opposites.
Before asking for anything in this dedication prayer, Solomon pauses to marvel. True worship starts by acknowledging how great God is.
Act: before you ask God for anything today, spend one full minute simply acknowledging out loud how great and uncontainable He is.
