PRAY THEN ACT
DAY 353Running With Endurance · Dec 19, 2026

Eyes Fixed on Jesus

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

1.

SURROUNDED BY WITNESSES

After all the faith heroes of the previous chapter, the writer says: you don't run alone, an entire cloud has already run before you.

2.

LAYING ASIDE THE WEIGHT

Not everything we carry is sin — some things are just legitimate weights that still slow the race and need to be set down.

3.

SIN THAT CLINGS CLOSE

The image is of clothing tangled around the legs — each person's familiar sin clings exactly where it slows movement most.

4.

ENDURANCE, NOT SPEED

The race of faith is a marathon, not a sprint — what matters isn't the initial burst but continuing to run when it gets exhausting.

5.

JESUS ENDURED FOR THE JOY

He himself is the greater example — Jesus endured the cross looking toward the joy on the other side, and now sits at the right hand of the throne.

6.

ACT BY RUNNING TODAY

Act: Name one specific weight you've been carrying and set it aside today through a concrete, practical decision.
