PRAY THEN ACT
DAY 269Faithful in the Fire · Sep 26, 2026

Even If He Does Not

“If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.””

1.

A GOD WHO IS ABLE

'Our God is able to deliver us' opens their answer affirming God's power without hesitation — their faith isn't born from doubt about divine capability, but certainty of it.

2.

AND HE WILL DELIVER US

Their trust moves from 'is able' to 'he will deliver us' — it isn't merely acknowledging God has power, it's actively expecting him to exercise it on their behalf.

3.

BUT IF NOT

'But if not' is the boldest turn in the whole declaration — they refuse to make their faithfulness conditional on the outcome God chooses to give.

4.

A LINE THEY WOULD NOT CROSS

'We will not serve your gods' sets an absolute boundary before the most powerful king of the age — not even the threat of death moves that line.

5.

FAITH WITHOUT A GUARANTEE

This is one of the most quoted declarations of trust in all of Scripture precisely because it promises no happy ending — it promises faithfulness, whatever happens.

6.

ACT WITH UNCONDITIONAL FAITH

Act: Name one situation today where you've only trusted God while expecting a specific outcome, and pray declaring faithfulness to him even if the answer comes differently.
