Sent to the Rebellious

“And he said to me, “Son of man, I send you to the people of Israel, to nations of rebels, who have rebelled against me. They and their fathers have transgressed against me to this very day. The descendants also are impudent and stubborn: I send you to them, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD.’”

1.

A MISSION WITHOUT ILLUSIONS

Before Ezekiel speaks his first prophetic word, God already describes with total clarity how hard the audience he'll face will be.

2.

A REBELLION SPANNING GENERATIONS

'They and their fathers' shows this isn't a recent failure — it's a pattern repeated generation after generation, right up to the very day Ezekiel is called.

3.

HARD FACE, STUBBORN HEART

The outward and inward description combine — stubbornness visible in the face and felt in the heart, making clear this mission will demand uncommon courage.

4.

SENT ANYWAY

God doesn't excuse Ezekiel because of the people's hardness — he sends him into exactly that difficult context, proving the mission never depends on the audience's receptiveness.

5.

SPEAKING IS OBEDIENCE, NOT A GUARANTEE OF RESULT

God tells Ezekiel to say 'thus says the Lord GOD' without promising the people will listen — Ezekiel's faithfulness would lie in speaking, not in guaranteeing their response.

6.

SPEAK EVEN WITHOUT A GUARANTEE OF BEING HEARD

Act: Name one truth from God you've hesitated to share out of fear of rejection, and take the step of saying it to someone today, entrusting the outcome to God.
