PRAY THEN ACT
DAY 141Foundations Restored · May 21, 2026

Joy Is Your Strength

“Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.””

1.

TEARS BEFORE THE LAW

The people wept when they heard the Law read aloud — the gap between what God asked and how they had lived broke them. God saw those tears.

2.

A DAY SET APART

"This day is holy to our Lord" — the holiness of the day changed the right response: not mourning, but a feast.

3.

SHARE WITH THE UNPREPARED

The command to feast comes bound to the command to share. Genuine joy always makes room for those left off the table.

4.

"DO NOT BE GRIEVED"

Nehemiah does not dismiss the sorrow — he redirects it. Genuine repentance ends in grace, not permanent despair.

5.

JOY AS STRENGTH

"The joy of the LORD is your strength" is no shallow optimism — it is the certainty that God delights in a restored people.

6.

SHARE THE TABLE

Act: before breakfast, set aside one extra portion — of food, time, or money — and send it to someone you know has nothing prepared today.
