PRAY THEN ACT
DAY 047The Star of Jacob · Feb 16, 2026

A Distant Star

“I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near: a star shall come out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel; it shall crush the forehead of Moab and break down all the sons of Sheth.”

1.

SEEN, BUT NOT NOW

Balaam describes something real that he himself will not live to see — biblical hope often stretches beyond the horizon of the one who first receives it.

2.

A MOUTH THAT DIDN'T WANT TO SPEAK

Balaam was hired to curse Israel, yet God put blessing in his mouth against his own will — no plan against God's people survives His word.

3.

A STAR SHALL COME

The image of a star rising from Jacob speaks of light coming from exactly where no one expected it — from a small, enslaved people, not an empire.

4.

A SCEPTER THAT RISES

The scepter rising out of Israel points toward a kingship the church later recognized in Christ, the king who conquers without a human army.

5.

PROMISES THAT WAIT CENTURIES

Centuries separate this prophecy from its fulfillment in Bethlehem — God is never in a hurry when the promise is certain.

6.

LOOK TOWARD THE STAR TODAY

Act: Write down one promise of God not yet fulfilled in your life, and pray, like Balaam, "I see it, but not now" — trusting his timing.
