“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”
Jesus isn't distant, watching from far away — he has already arrived, already positioned right there, waiting to be welcomed.
He has the power to enter on his own, but he chooses to knock — Jesus's love never forces its way in, it waits to be invited.
The condition begins with hearing — before opening the door, you have to recognize it's his voice calling, among so many others.
The door only opens from the inside — Jesus holds no key of his own for this particular door, the choice to answer is always yours.
"I will eat with him, and he with me" describes intimacy, not a quick visit — Jesus wants to stay, to eat, to remain in ongoing fellowship.
Act: Set aside a quiet moment today and tell Jesus out loud that he may enter one specific area of your life you've kept closed off.
