“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Jesus doesn't restrict the invitation to a select group — 'all who' opens the door to anyone weary, with no prior qualification required.
The two words describe different kinds of exhaustion — the ongoing effort of labor and the weight of a burden you can no longer bear to carry.
The invitation is personal — Jesus doesn't point to rules or rituals that will bring relief, he points to himself as the very place of rest.
The promised rest isn't the result of more effort — it's a gift given by Jesus, the exact opposite of the weariness that brought people to him.
Jesus says this to people burdened by religious rules imposed by rigid leaders — this rest was direct relief from a very specific spiritual weight.
Act: Name in prayer the specific burden wearing you down most right now, and literally tell Jesus 'I come to you with this' before you go on with your day.
