“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
The promise begins with a command: give. God's overflow waits on the far side of your open hand.
Pressed down, shaken together, running over — Jesus describes grain packed past capacity. God does not repay in level spoonfuls.
The scoop you use for others becomes the scoop used for you. Generosity sets the scale of your own receiving.
In this passage Jesus is speaking of mercy, pardon, and judgment withheld. Give grace in the same overflowing measure.
Generations of givers tell the same story: the lap fills again. God's faithfulness outweighs your boldest gift.
Act: before breakfast, give something concrete — send help to someone in need, or forgive a debt you have been holding.
