“And I told them of the hand of my God that had been upon me for good, and also of the words that the king had spoken to me. And they said, “Let us rise up and build.” So they strengthened their hands for the good work.”
Before Nehemiah called the people to work, he told them what God had done. Vision is born from testimony, not from command.
He credits every bit of favor from the king to "the hand of my God," not to his own skill. Naming the source protects humility.
Hearing the testimony, the people answered as one: "Let us rise up and build." One man's faith lit the courage of many.
"They strengthened their hands for the good work" — courage literally turned into gripping tools. Good work begins when resolve becomes physical action.
The text calls the rebuilding "the good work" — not merely necessary, but morally good in the eyes of God and the people.
Act: before breakfast, tell someone one concrete way God's hand has been on you recently — and invite them to build alongside you.
